What works with kids in Hurghada, what doesn't, and the age rules you should know before booking.
Hurghada is a calm, family-friendly destination. Most of the boat trips are easy with children of any age, and the desert is more flexible than people expect. Below are the picks that work best with kids, plus the age restrictions you'll hit on diving and quad bikes.
Not the best fit if
Skip the long sea days if you have an infant who naps strictly indoors - the day boats are open, sunny and the day is long. Skip the quad bike under 12.
Best sea trip with kids
Orange Bay is the easiest first-time sea day with young children: large day boat, calm route, sheltered island beach, on-board lunch. Hula Hula is similar but the smaller speedboat is bumpier. Ozirea is great for families who want pool and facilities on the island.
Best desert trip with kids
Stargazing safari with a jeep transfer (no quad) works for kids 6+. The Super Safari quad has a 12+ minimum. Camel rides and sandboarding are fine for younger children when included as a stop.
Scuba diving age rules
Discover Scuba Diving has a minimum age set by PADI; in practice we book it from age 10 with parental consent. Younger snorkelers can join any boat trip and the crew stays in the water with first-time snorkelers.
What to bring for kids
- Sunscreen (reef-safe if possible), hats and rash vests
- Closed shoes for the desert
- A light jacket for any evening or desert activity
- Snacks for the desert (lunch is on board for sea trips)

Common questions
Are car seats provided for the hotel transfer?
Not by default. If you need a child seat for the transfer, tell us when booking and we'll request it from the transfer partner - subject to availability.
Can my 6-year-old do the Dolphin House trip?
Yes. The boat is the same as Orange Bay, with snorkel vests and crew supervision. The day is long, so plan an easy day after.
