How much skin actually comes off?

More than you'd guess. The combination of steam and black soap softens the dead skin layer thoroughly, and the kessa glove lifts it off in visible rolls. It's the most distinct sensation in spa work. Most travelers describe their skin as 'completely new' afterwards.

Is the steam room hot?

Warm rather than blistering. Around 40 to 45°C, designed to open the pores without exhausting you. If you feel uncomfortable at any point, step out, the therapist will check on you.

Can I sunbathe afterwards?

Avoid direct sun for 24 hours. The kessa exfoliation goes deep and the skin is freshly bare. Book the hammam late afternoon or evening if you have a beach day the next day, or schedule it on an arrival-day evening.

Is this safe during pregnancy?

We do not recommend the hammam during pregnancy because of the steam room. The 60-minute aromatherapy massage is safer during pregnancy with a pregnancy-trained therapist - we can arrange that on request from the second trimester onwards.

How is this different from Cleopatra Plus?

Different exfoliation method. Cleopatra uses a warm honey scrub on dry skin (brightening, glowing). Hammam uses steam, black soap and a kessa glove (deeper, full reset). Both finish with an aromatherapy massage. Cleopatra is the gentler choice, Hammam is the radical one.

The Moroccan Hammam is the full reset. The programme runs through the spa's shared facilities and combines steam, sauna and jacuzzi access with a thorough body scrub and exfoliation, then closes with a 45-minute finishing aromatherapy massage to seal the skin and deeply relax the body. The full ritual is around 2 to 2.5 hours at the spa, plus the transfer on either side. Round-trip hotel transfer from any Hurghada hotel is included. English-speaking, qualified therapists. Most travelers book this once per Hurghada holiday and tell us it is the single best reset of the trip.
