2025-10-12BBQ dinner was the best food I had on the whole trip. Cooked in the sand. Live drums. Magical.
The Stargazing Safari is our evening programme for travelers who came to the Red Sea coast for the sea but want to see the night sky for a different reason. We pick you up at 17:00 and drive a 4x4 jeep about an hour east of Hurghada, deep enough into the protected desert plateau that light pollution from the city falls away. The camp is built around a low fire, with rugs and cushions on the sand and a long table for dinner. The meal is a Bedouin BBQ: grilled chicken or fish, salads, freshly baked bread cooked in the sand, fresh fruit and unlimited mint tea. After dinner, around 20:30, the staff douse the camp lanterns and our guide leads about an hour of naked-eye stargazing, pointing out the visible planets, Orion, Cassiopeia and the Milky Way when the moon is small. We return to your hotel by around 22:30. The programme is family-friendly (ages 6+) and the desert is genuinely quiet at night.

2025-10-01The Bedouin camp is real, not a tourist set. We talked to one of the families who run the camp. They've lived in that area for generations.
